Creating a 2008 Calendar
Calendars are highly popular gifts, as one can tell from the kiosks in the malls at Christmas. Everyone looks forward to the crisp new pages of a calendar to welcome in the New Year.
At organizedscrapbooks.com, in the coming months, we will be working to create a unique 2008 calendar that can be used as a gift or treasured as your very own. While creating a calendar may seem a simple task, it is essential to layout and plan your calendar ahead of time. Preplanning, while not always fun, allows you to create the calendar that you envision without too many detours along the way. First ask yourself a few questions.
What kind of calendar do you want? Wall? Desk? What size?
Who are you creating the calendar for?
What are their likes and dislikes? Favorite colors?

There are many options when it comes to selecting the calendar you are going to scrap. Calendars are available in almost any shape and size. Many people enjoy the "put together" look of Karen Foster's calendars as seen here. Still another source for calendar scrapping materials is http://orientaltrading.com which features several calendar bundles to create a 16 month 12 x 12 calendar or a smaller desk size calendar. Another option is Heidi Swapp's Calendar. It has page protectors to slip your 12 x 12 monthly creations into.
Some prefer to create and bind their own calendar or use the computer to create the calendar grid. Regardless of your choice of calendar...the real fun is in the creating. As you select papers, embellishments, and most of all photos, you will be creating a unique gift that cannot be purchased in a store. Grandparents, in particular, treasure a scrapped calendar.
Your local scrapbook store will most likely have an array of monthly papers you can choose from, as well as, stickers, ribbon, tags, and other embellishments. Designing a calendar allows for a free range of expression. Sometimes it is helpful to have a roadmap to follow. Becky Fleck's PageMaps are a great source of inspiration and come in a variety of sizes. Print and use the 12 x 12 planner pages here at OS and you can preplan each of the 12 monthly layouts you will need.
Join us in the forum "Virtual Crop" during the months of August, September, and October for Calendar Creations. Please check the OS homepage frequently for updates on our progress. At the end of August we will be featuring layouts for January through April.
